We present our modified version with Pancake probe of the well-known GC01 Geiger Counter, where compared to the original model the following changes have been implemented:
- Replacement for the small and inefficient original Chinese-made Geiger Muller tube, with a high-performance professional Pancake-type Geiger probe, circular shape produced in the USA. The instrument can now detect high-energy Beta and Gamma radiation with extreme sensitivity, even the most critical corpuscular ALFA and less energetic Beta radiations.
- Replacing the original back cover with a new one, equipped with a 46mm diameter circular window with protective grille. This new Cover was specifically designed in CAD to house the new G.M. probe. Pancake. The specially designed circular window of the new Cover. in practice it allows you to expose the active mica surface of the Geiger Pancake Tube, directly outwards, allowing it to easily detect even the less energetic ALFA and Beta radiation.
- Instrumental adjustment and calibration of the high voltage that powers the new Geiger Pancake Tube. It has now been set via software and instrumentally calibrated to the nominal value of 500V, allowing the Geiger Pancake tube to always function with maximum linearity and precision.
- A new customized Open Source Firmware has been installed in the internal microcontroller, now available with menus in Italian and English. This firmware is much more advanced than the original one, improves general performance and also implements the useful Ticker function. It is a version we ourselves adapted, based on Open source firmware Gissio@RadPro, with many advanced measurement features and a new much more rational graphics.
- New advanced algorithms for a more refined measurement of radioactivity. Il nostro JT-RAD01-7317SW, thanks to its new advanced firmware, can measure the dose with renewed precision, the level of instant installment, and medium of exposure to ionizing radiation. Also in addition to being possible to customize the acquisition times, The tool can show the graphic trend of radioactivity in the domain of time.
- Dose Calculation: The instrument now always thanks to the new advanced firmware, can automatically calculate the dose of ionizing radiation exposure over time, displaying it on the display in real time and possibly generating an audible alarm if a certain programmable threshold is exceeded.

It can detect even the weakest sources of Alpha radiation with very high efficiency, Beta, Gamma and X -rays, while using different measurement modes that can be set by the user.

What are the differences between a geiger pancake tube and an ordinary tube
