Description
We present the Improved Version “M1” of the well-known economical Geiger counter FNIRSI “GC-01”.
Compared to the original version we have appropriately modified it to significantly increase its performance and reliability.
Added typical Geiger Counter Ticker function.
Also on this detector we have added a hardware module that implements the function: “Ticker”, basically our Geiger GC-01/M1, now in addition to flashing its red LED, it can emit ticks in real time proportional to the radioactive activity detected.
New windowed back cover to increase sensitivity.
We replaced the original back cover with another new one made by us with the 3D printing. This new cover unlike the original one, It has a special rectangular opening on the left side which exposes the J321 Geiger tube of the instrument, directly outwards, significantly increasing its sensitivity. Recalibration of the high voltage that powers the Geiger Tube
finally we also recalibrated the high voltage that powers the Geiger tube itself, thus certifying it to the correct nominal value of approximately 400V, as recommended by the manufacturer of the same hose.
The new features of the FNIRSI Geiger Counter improved by us
summing up, now the FNIRSI GC geiger counter-01 /M1 Improved, thanks to our various modifications, as well as having become decidedly more precise and sensitive, with the new “Ticker”, can also emit a “click” sound corresponding to each Beta and Gamma radioactive particle detected by his Geiger tube.
This small instrument is also equipped with a large color graphic LCD display, and a model cylindrical borosilicate Geiger tube: “J321” which detects Beta radiation, Gamma and X-rays. In particular, thanks to our recent modifications, the sensitivity to low-energy Beta radiation was detected with simple empirical tests, was increased by approximately 5 – 10 volte.
The radioactivity measurement methods implemented by the FNIRSI GC-01
The FNIRSI GC Radioactivity Detector-01/M1, It can measure both instantaneous and average radiation levels, furthermore it can also show the graphic trend in the time domain and thanks to our intervention it is now also equipped with a buzzer that generates a “click” sound for each particle revealed in perfect synchrony with the original red LED, which pulsates in correspondence with this event.
It can emit an audible alarm if radioactivity values are acquired that exceed a pre-settable threshold value. It is also equipped with an internal 3.7V 1200mAh battery and a USB socket which is used exclusively to be recharged from a PC or from a common 220V mains adapter (not provided).
Transparency notes on the intended use of this radioactivity detector: We would like to point out that its characteristics cannot be defined as professional, therefore it is recommended to use it exclusively for recreational purposes, educational and amateur.
